Joburg Tri Series Race 1- 3rd

Race was changed to an aquathlon- 1.5km swim, 10km run (due to a plane crashing on the bike course). 3rd place. (report to come)

September's Racing!

I competed in the Afriman mini and ultra duathlons this last weekend. Saturday's race was a 6km run, 30km bike and 3km run. Here I finished 2nd. Sunday was engulfed by a 12km run/90km bike/6km run and after a lot of pain and change of placing, I managed to run back into 3rd place at the end. Duathlons are not my 'pet' event as there is no swim, my preferred discipline, so was very happy with this result

Finally.. A podium finish.. and an update some may say!

After spending sunday, monday and tuesday in bed due to a bad head cold, my week heading into the All Africa Champs was not going according to the typical or text book taper week. However, you will never find an athlete's specific taper week in a text book!  Anyway, I think I was more mentally tense than body weary going to Durban. Duathlon time!

It has been a while since I have uploaded anything- mainly because there has not been a lot of racing other than a few duathlons. With the onset of winter, the swim leg falls away and replaced with another run. I have recently competed in the Northern and Central Gauteng Duathlon Champs, placing 3rd and 2nd respectively. These have been 'training races' with no taper but rather my 'threshold' run for the week. It has meant the 10k run, 40k bike, 5k run races have ended with sore legs, but hav...
