BSG Energade Final and First BSG Olympic Distance Race

Posted by Chris Felgate on Saturday, December 18, 2010, In : 2010-2011 Racing
I am writing this at about 4am on my first day off and break until the New Year. Why 4am? I went in for step 2 of 3 with getting a tooth implant, requiring a bone graft and insertion of a titanium pin yesterday. I cannot sleep! Painkillers are supposed to make you sleep- not me!!

This is about the very disappointing final of the BSG Energade Triseries in Cape Town about 1.5 weeks ago. I had been on the 'go' since 8am on the Sat before the race. Getting to CT presented a few more challenges, wh...

Pretoria Continental Cup

Posted by Chris Felgate on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, In : 2010-2011 Racing
After the Zim Continental Cup, I had a quick week to try and get the body ready for Pretoria. I am still learning the art of racing two OD races back to back and seems still have a way to go! Guessing with the usual pressures of work, JHB life combined with the hard race in Zim the week prior, I didnt realise what rest I actually/probably needed. Its all learning :)

Race day was hot. I recorded a max of 41 degrees with an average of 35. This change according to airflow etc over my heart rate m...

Zimbabwe Continental Cup

Posted by Chris Felgate on Tuesday, November 23, 2010, In : 2010-2011 Racing
What a weekend! Jeremy Drake from Aus, myself and Nikki left for Zim on Thursday the 18th of November. We were met in Harare by a bus that took a group of about 10 people up to Troutbeck in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe. This was my first visit to Zimbabwe since December 2008 so it was interesting to see the changes that have taken place in the last 23 months. The road to Harare airport has had a new coat of bitumen- no doubt to ensure the dignitaries get to and from the airport safely! T...

BSG Energade Triseries to date

Posted by Chris Felgate on Tuesday, November 9, 2010, In : 2010-2011 Racing
The 2010 Triseries has been a great success to date. Record numbers have flocked the events that have mainly been in Gauteng to date. Midmar Dam Triseries even had higher numbers than last year, despite the foul weather.

My racing has been mediocre, however, I cant expect too much else given the health issues have had to face over the last few months and lost weeks of training. I have rather used various aspects of each race to focus on and have been happy that Transitions are a little slicke...

Another 3 crazy weeks gone by....

Posted by Chris Felgate on Thursday, October 21, 2010, In : 2010-2011 Racing
Week 1.. abscess returns... 4 days later race in the first event of the BSG Energade Triseries and suffer big time... ended up 7th. A week later and the second event in the Triseries wasn't a hell of a lot better but at least could hang in the front packs in the swim and bike legs. I ended up in 6th there.

I am now 2 days after having my front tooth out.. which I was quite weirdly nervous for! Anyway, after the tooth was pulled I tried slugging a milkshake down with Nikki before heading off to...
